Hello KESA readers, on this week’s edition of Throwback Thursday, we take you back to Friday 19th of August 2016 when Askia and Skidi Booy delivered the visuals of “Welcome 4 Kwata” a song which celebrated our hood, our streets, our kwata, a song which celebrated Mboko and at the same time Camer’s urban culture.
“Welcome 4 Kwata” is arguably one of the best, biggest street bangers from the Anglophone ‘musisphere’. The video directed by Mr. Adrenaline had a great concept which was celebrated as well and featured cameo appearances from Mr. Leo, Jay Milly and other Camer headliners at the time.
Fast forward 2 years after, Askia and Skidi Booy are award winners as Skidi Booy won best video with his song “Nanga Mboko” at the Urban Jamz Awards 2018 while Askia recently walked home with the award for best Afrotrap/HipHop Song with her song “Let’s Talk” at the Urban Jamz awards 2019.
