Does Timag – The Artiste deserve to be a top contestant for “Most Promising Artiste 2019” in Cameroon?
Last year almost same time, we published an article with a countdown of the most promising Artistes in the industry, a list that included Fhish, Matilda, Lil Love, and others.
While I announce that it’s been difficult getting same countdown this year, given we’ve seen very few new artistes putting up much work, I think one of the most assured candidates for such a list is Timag. She may not be the first on the list but who else do you have in mind?
Timag has had an amazing year through from December 2018 right up till present date. I remember hosting her first ever single titled “Ant” on the KESA Website back in December 2018 and I only noticed her because of the online buzz that followed the release.
That same December 2018, we saw the creation of a new record label YouTube account that houses Timag called Sabuc Productions. They showed signs of seriousness at the start as they unveiled the “Ant” project. Though I still see them as a social media record label because we didn’t hear of any physical launching or press conference. This may have been the ugly side of this post, let’s focus on the good.
So since then, Timag has managed to be present on the media space and maintained some degree of relevance. After the “Ant” project which dropped on December 2nd, Timag & Sabuc production came through with another music video titled “My Love” on February 24th and later the audio of “African Woman” in March. Her biggest project yet is “Chakalizer” which dropped in May produced by Boy Karl and video directed by Enow Derick.
That was 3 music videos within the space of 6 months and so you will understand why I said the record label came in with some seriousness and a good strategy, because since then till now she hasn’t dropped any project as they are more focused on selling her as an artiste via distribution and outdoor events keeping her relevant both online and offline.
Last month October 2019, Timag’s song “Chakalizer” was nominated in the category “Best African Song” at the Cameroon Academy Arts Film Awards to the surprise of many. And behold, we managed to return home with the award. This is a huge step and recognition to her young career.
Again, Timag has been nominated in the category “Best Female Artiste” at the ongoing Airtime Awards 2019, as she is contesting against artistes such as Kameni, Nabila, Shura and Askia. looking at these names, you could easily conclude that her nomination is already a win.
And finally, in her achievements this year, Timag came first at the just concluded Discovery Contest of 237 rising stars that was set up to choose which artiste will perform alongside Diamond Platnumz at the Njeiforbi Music Festival tomorrow November 22nd, 2019.
Now, the most interesting thing about Timag and her various achievements so far is that if you listen to her sing, you will quickly capture that she has a lot of work to do at the level of her vocals which we will understand as a rising artiste.
But then, her stage performance is on another level and we see this in her music videos and the various shows in which she has attended. If she manages to win over fast rising artistes like Fhish, Dina and Slym Harley in contests, then you can imagine what she brings on stage.
Now, this is some hard facts for us to determine if, Timag – The Artiste deserves to be a top contestant for “Most Promising Artiste 2019” in Cameroon.
I thought I should present this here for us, so that we evaluate and give her the necessary accolades if she deserves it and also know that the year 2019 didn’t just go without us discovering a new talent who is set for bigger things in the future.
So, do you think Timag deserves to be a top contestant for “Most Promising Artiste 2019” in Cameroon.
