Zinnia Basame is singer-songwriter based in Lagos, Nigeria. Her love for music dates back to her Secondary School days, where she was part of a small music group called Brightphace. The group became popular when they won the Nescafe African Revolution competition.
Zinnia’s big break in the music world however came in 2009 when she won the Les Brasseries du Cameroun Mutzig Star competition organized in partnership with Canal 2 International. She earned 1 million FCFA cash prize and a new brand Peugeot 206 worth 15 million FCFA. Besides that, Zinnia was to have her first album produced and promoted by the company.
In 2018, Zinnia released her Hit single OVERLOAD which was known in Cameroon, but made great waves in other parts of the world like the Mauritius Island and Figi which shocked a lot of music lovers in Cameroon. Zinnia made a lot of Home based artistes to know that their songs could be popular and make waves in different parts of the world without necessarily being a hit song in Cameroon.
The song ‘‘Overload” was nominated for the Song of the Year category at the upcoming Urban Jamz Award Show. Equally she bagged two other nominations in categories(Best Female Artiste and Best Diaspora Artiste).
Amazingly “OVERLOAD” has 5.9 million YouTube views as at now. Zinnia’s other singles include Colo, Madam Makossa ft Askia and Bongo remix ft Stanley Enow. The talented artiste just recently released an EP titled ‘‘GOOD TIMES”.
