Congratulations to Franck Alcide who was recently promoted to the position of managing director of Universal Music Africa replacing Moussa Soumbounou who has held same position for just under 2 years now.
Mr. Franck Kacou, a former rapper known as Black Kent in his rap days joined Universal Music Africa as an artistic director in 2016 and was later promoted to position of Director of publishing activities.
In 2018, Universal Music Group (UMG) expanded its presence and operations in French-speaking Africa initially led by Moussa Soumbounou. The recently appointed Franck Kacou will report to Olivier Nusse, CEO of Universal Music France and continue to operate out of a new Universal Music Africa (UMA) office in Abidjan (Côte d’Ivoire).
His territories will include Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cabo Verde, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Comoros, Congo (Brazzaville), Congo (Kinshasa), Côte d’Ivoire, Djibouti, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Madagascar, Mali, Niger, Sao Tome and Principe, Senegal, Seychelles and Togo.
Artists recently signed to UMA include Kiff No Beat and DJ Arafat from Ivory Coast, Toofan from Togo and Locko and Tenor from Cameroon.

Universal Music Group is working closely in partnership with parent company Vivendi, and several of its divisions including Canal Olympia, Vivendi Village, Canal+ and Havas to support and develop the live music industry ecosystem throughout the continent.
