Etienne Pineda Eto’o son of legendary former indomitable lions striker and captain Samuel Eto’o has been given a trial by Sport Lisboa Benfica team B.
Etienne was without a club after he was released by Spanish league two side Real Oviedo.
The 18year old impressed at the previous under 20 Africa cup of nations scoring an outstanding free kick before scoring from the penalty spot and providing one assist in a 4-1 win over Mozambique.
The young striker has hopes of emulating the father’s footsteps and even try to achieve more than him. “My dad has played a huge influence in my life because I have always admired him and want to learn from him and continue in his steps. Always I want to be someone as him,”
“I want to try and be better than him and I am always looking forward to stepping on the pitch and giving my best. Even though I know it is difficult to be better than my father, I want to work hard to achieve like him. He is always there to support me and give me advice.” Etienne Eto’o said this via CAF online in Mauritania after the match against Mozambique.
Etienne Eto’o started training with Benfica B already and if the trial is successful he’ll now play in Portugal after spending all his life in Spain through the ranks at Real Mallorca where he was born before moving to Real Oviedo.
