Teni beats Daphne to become best Female MVP in Africa
Daphne, one of Cameroon’s notable music stars missed out on her first Sound city MVP award last night, when the Best Female MVP award was swept up by Nigeria’s Teni.
Daphne who graced the ceremony wearing a beautiful design by SpellKootor did not return home a winner but a real MVP after representing the whole of Cameroon at the awards.
Daphne earned this nomination after dropping 3 amazing videos in 2019 including “Ne laches Pas“, “Alleluia“ featuring label mate, Boy Tag and “Doucement“. This was Daphne’s first ever Nomination at the Soundcity MVP awards ands she follows Stanley Enow who was nominated back in 2016 for Hip Hop MVP of the year.
This year’s category “Best Female MVP” saw some very new and popular names in competition with Daphne, including Betty G, Nandy, Sho Madjozi, Teni (Winner) Tiwa Savage and Yemi Alade.
The 2020 Soundcity MVP awards saw outstanding stage performances by some Top African artistes including Davido, Diamond Platinumz, Tekno, Tiwa Savage and Nigeria’s new fishes Joeboy and Rema. Bonang Matheba was the Host and she made the show it a beautiful one alongside all awards presenters.
Unanimously regarded as the king of the hill and the most prestigious event of the year after year on the continent, the SOUNDCITY MVPs celebrate music, community and the most outstanding Afrocentric cultural achievements in the most premium live TV event. This year’s event took place last night, 11th January 2020 at the Eko Convention Centre in Lagos, Nigeria.
