Corona Virus (Covid-19) Cameroon Situation Update April 3rd, 2020

Cameroon officially has 509 confirmed cases of the Corona Virus (Covid-19)

Friday, April 3: 20:00 GMT +1 – Cameroon reports a total of 509 cases with 8 deaths and 17 recovered.

Following a tweet confirmation from Cameroonian health authorities, Cameroon’s Corona Virus (Covid-19) number of cases have quickly risen from 306 to 509, thus 203 new cases within 24 hours. The Minister also confirmed today that the country has recently engaged in mass testing and it is paying off. 800 people, mostly travelers were tested recently, and the results came with 203 being positive though showing no symptoms.

The Minister of Health in a recent tweet announced the government’s strategy to fight against the spread of the Corona Virus (Covid-19);

  • Massive and generalized testing
  • Placement in immediate treatment of cases
  • Active surveillance of suspect cases
  • Awareness of the populations (hygiene, distance, etc.)
  • Border control
  • Development of reliable local expertise for the response

The Health authorities continue to call on all to respect the directives put in place to fight against the spread of the disease, including washing of hands, using alcohol based hand sanitizers, social distancing of 1m and above all, staying at home.

The owner of Congelcam, Senator Ngouchinge Sylvester today donated the sum of 250 million FCFA for the fight against the Corona Virus in Cameroon. This donation comes hours after that of Baba Danpullo who contributed 100 million FCFA to add to the solidarity fund that was created pre-funded with 1 billion by President Paul Biya.

The Governor of the Littoral region, Samuel Dieudonne prohibits the consumption of drinks and food at their selling points as part of measures to limit the spread of Corona Virus.

Confirmed Cases and Deaths in the World April 3, 2020

According to Worldometers, Corona Virus (Covid-19) cases surpassed 1 million this Friday, 3rd 2020. There are currently 1,080,376 cases in the World with a total of 58,110 deaths and 227,668 recovered.
