Celebrities call for an end to Cameroon’s Anglophone Crisis with the #EndAnglophoneCrisis social media movement

Cameroonian Celebrities call for an End to the Anglophone Crisis with #EndAnglophoneCrisis social media movement

A good number of Cameroonian celebrities are using their social media platforms to call for an end to the crisis in the English speaking regions of Cameroon.

Following Nigeria’s “End Sars” protest which has hit social media recently, receiving support from multiple International Celebrities, Cameroonian celebrities have valued their worth and influence and decided to increase their efforts calling for an end in violence in the English speaking regions of Cameroon.

The Cameroon Anglophone crisis started in 2016. According to crisisgroup.org, Since October 2016, protests and strikes related to sectoral demands have escalated into a crisis over the economic and political marginalization of Cameroon’s Anglophone minority. Although the government has made some concessions, it must rebuild mutual trust with Anglophone actors in order to avoid instability ahead of the 2018 general elections.

Several Cameroonian celebrities including; Stanley Enow, Mr. Leo, Salatiel, Blanche Bailly, Daphne, Mel B, Tenor, Mic Monsta, Ben Decca, K-Tino, amongst others have recently used their social media platforms to call for an end to the anglophone crisis, and also calling for peace to reign in these regions and in the country in general.

Musician, Magasco on his part wondered why the world has kept silent despite cries from Cameroonians over the past 4 years on the crisis in Cameroon. He went ahead to say he wishes for a solution to be created and an end to the war while sharing a photo with the caption to end the crisis.

Musician, Ben Decca on his part said there are people in areas of crisis who will not profit from a return to normalcy while sharing a photo with a hashtag to end the crisis.

Rapper, Stanley Enow came out on his Facebook page to confirm that as a people, they have suffered so much from the crisis. He thinks it’s high time the crisis ends and they move towards a joyful Cameroon. He shared a photo that had as caption EndAnglophoneCrisis

Singer, Mr. Leo shared a link to his previously released single “Pray” and assured his fans that God will soon answer their prayers while sharing the hashtag EndAnglophonecrisis.

Singer, Mel B Akwen came out to reveal that she lost her mother during this crisis period because of lack of medical care and she wishes to go visit her grave anytime without fear of catching a bullet. She says she wants the war to end now while using the hashtag EndAnglophoneCrisis.

Rapper, Askia on her part said if everyone had come together since the crisis started, a lot of lives lost might have been saved. She thinks the recent push is now hypocrisy but appreciates all those who have been putting a voice out since the beginning. She shared the hashtag Endanglophonecrisis
