This story was captured by Kampii productions yesterday as they unveiled the revelation from one of their sources who confirmed that the Big G Baba has made over 2.1 Million CFA and counting from his unreleased track “En no Dey Normal“
Big G is one of the first artists to introduce Afro pop genre of music in the Cameroon music sphere after dropping “E di pain me” feat Mel B and Achalle back in 2007 just few months after coming back from Nigeria.
All his song releases since then have in one way of the other represented his hood and culture, though not the most trending, but have always been enjoyed by a wide range of music fans from around Cameroon and in the diaspora.
“Thanks for the financial support especially most of Cameroonian brothers n sisters in America Europe n the rest. All the money’s u send I received it. I really appreciate from the bottom of my heart. I appreciate. The song “E no normal” will be release soon as planned” Big G posted on his official Facebook page Yesterday 20th August.
I tried to get an understanding of how he got this huge amount from the song and it turns out that a few fans and supporters of Big G who are based in the diaspora requested that he sends the song to them for pre-listening. He told them that he hasn’t mixed and mastered the song. They then sent him over 700k just for him to finish the production and since then, contributions have been coming in from all angles.
I want to take this opportunity to encourage artistes to always make available their songs for pre-ordering and pre-listening. Artistes and their team can come up with good strategies to make money from their music even before making it available for free on YouTube and other music streaming and download platforms.
