Cameroon officially has a total of 658 cases tested positive for CoronaVirus (Covid-19) today April 6th, 2020.
Corona Virus (Covid-19) virus cases keep soaring in Cameroon as 8 cases were discovered today taking the number of cases to 658 from 650 of yesterday. Total deaths and total recovered cases remain at 9 and 17 cases respectively.
This information was confirmed by the country’s Minister of Health, Dr. Manaouda Malachie via a tweet. He confirmed the new cases and advised that we should protect ourselves.
The Cameroon government has chosen the Yaounde military stadium to turn it into a hospital and clinic to fight the coronavirus pandemic. The stadium will be able to provide about 200 beds.
The ministry of public health is also renovating a former supermarket in Yaounde to turn it into a hospital for Coronavirus (Covid 19) patients. The three-story building will have a capacity of 400 beds for Covid 19 patients. Government has obtained 600 more beds as they continue to build up the fight against the virus.
Lessons for students taking end of course examinations are being aired on national radio and television. The first lessons kicked off today. The measure is taken by the Cameroon Government to fill in the gap created by the suspension of classes to combat COVID-19.
The need for face masks keeps increasing on a daily basis. The Cameroonian population is chasing for local made masks which are low cost and can easily be managed. Many local tailors are now engaging in production of local masks as the demand keeps increasing. A business enterprise is producing 7000 protective masks daily at the Bassa industrial zone in Douala. These masks are currently on sale in pharmacies.
Chinese Billionaire, Jack Ma announced today that his second donation to 54 countries in Africa is currently on its way. The donation includes 500 ventilators, 200K suits & face shields, 2K thermometers, 1M swabs & extraction kits and 500K gloves.

The Corona Virus (Covid-19) has hit the world very hard, with over one million three hundred thousand (1,300,000) cases so far and fatalities just over seventy three thousand (73,868) and total recovered stands at two hundred and seventy seven thousand, seven hundred and seven (277,707).
Total confirmed coronavirus cases in Africa: 9,310; Recovered: 906; Confirmed deaths: 444
The USA is currently the most hit country with a total of 366,653 cases. Coronavirus death toll surpassed 10,000 in US today April 6th, 2020.
