Daphne Wins Best Female artiste Central Africa at AFRIMMA
Once again, Daphne represents and keeps Cameroon relevant at another International award, this time around at the AFRIMMA 2019 where she emerged as Best Female artiste Central Africa, and the only Cameroonian that managed to return home with an award.
Daphne beat her fellow country colleagues like Blanche Bailly and Charlotte Dipanda including other Central African heavy weights like Shan’L from Gabon and Neima from Mozambique to maintain the crown given she won same last year.
In the category “Best Francophone” where she was nominated alongside fellow country mates, Stanley Enow and Salatiel, they were all beaten by DJ Arafat (RIP).
Salatiel goes home empty handed
The biggest loser from Cameroon in this year’s AFRIMMA is Salatiel who managed to bag 3 nominations but couldn’t win any. Salatiel was nominated for Best Male Central Africa which went to Fally Ipupa, Best music producer which went to Kel-P and lastly Best Francophone which as mentioned above went to DJ Arafat (RIP)
In our article of last August 7th where we used AFRIMMA 2019 nominations as a tool to measure the progress rate of the Cameroon Music Industry through 2018 and 2019, we mentioned that Cameroon is regressing as they were seen mostly in categories at regional level and very few at the level of the Continent as a whole. The list of winners recently proclaimed proves this fact as only 1 artiste, Daphne among the 6 initially nominated managed to win.
Recall that the African Muzik Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA) is the sole award ceremony in the Diaspora that caters to all musical genres including but not limited to: Afrobeats, Assiko, Bongo, Decale, Funana, Genge, Highlife, Hiplife, Kwaito, Lingala and Soukous.
